Date Established: This ship has a long and interesting history. She was initially built by the Swedish-American line in 1948 and named the Stockholm. In 1956, she was severly damaged after a collision with the Andrea Dora, a collision that received world-wide attention. The Andrea Dora sank but the Stockholm survived with major damage. In 1985 the ship was sold to a Panamanian company, Neptunas Rex Enterprise and renamed the Volker. She then became the Fridtjof and was based in Norway in 1986. In 1989 she was sold to an Italian company, Star Lauro, and renamed Italia. In 1994, she was sold to Nina Cia. da Navigazione, another Italian company and named the Italia Prima. In 1999, she was leased to Club Valtur of Italy and renamed Valtur Prima. In 2003, she was chartered to Festival Cruises and renamed Caribe.
